新しい文化を築きあげること。どこか海外のイメージの強いBarの空間イメージを「新しい和」というコンセプトを元に日本的なバーの在り方を考えてみてはどうだろうか？スイッチバーという新たな大人の遊び場という概念で多くの人々を呼び込み、既に多くの集客を得ている中でのお店づくり。僕たちはこのような状況下で新店舗を展開するにあたって、そのお店を象徴とする空間要素が必要だと考えた。
和の要素を単に押出すのではなく、部分の要素として大胆に象徴することで、スイッチバーの熱のこもった「動」の盛り上がりと、和のもつ静寂さとしての「静」の空間が同時に共存する、コントラストをもった新たな集まる居場所が生みだされる事を想像した。
既存の静かなコンクリートの躯体に、障子のグリッドや、路地を通り、暖簾をくぐり、縁側に出るという一連の体験と動作を加え、広々とした躯体のコンクリートのホールで人々が行きかい、語らう空間構成となっている。
和という空間が静なる空間となるのではなく、和という空間における動なる空間を、スイッチバーのシステムとのコラボにより実現できるのではないかと考えている。

To try to build a new culture, what about a bar in Japanese style? To provide new type of entertainment to our society, we thought that the mixture of a bar program and a special experience was necessary. It’s not only a typical Japanese Bar “Isakaya” which has sitting spots for eating and drinking, but combining with standing situation, we could design a hybrid contrast between movement and stability. On one hand, in the sequence of existent concrete structure, grids of partitions are added, creating people flows. On the other hand, the main hall is planned to be “stable” to create diversity and continuity of the space. The composition of the dynamic and the static makes the scene of the Switch Bar completely unprecedented.
