計画地周辺には住吉神社が位置しており、その敷地内には福岡市の指定文化財となっ ている能楽殿が存在しています。能楽殿は伝統的な様式と洋風の建築技術を一体にした劇場建築、近代和風建築とも言われ、現在でも能や狂言という伝統を大切にしながらも、 その場所を借り落語やコンサート、映画やエクササイズとしてなどイベントが 行われる事があるようです。能楽殿のイベント性や求心性は、その場所の特徴を示し、 居心地の良い寸法体系やグリッドによって特徴的な空間となっています。
地域で活躍するデザイナーや人々をつなげ、情報発信の拠点となる場所に、住吉神社近郊に存在する意味と歴史的なつながりを暗示するグリッドとグラフィックデザイナーであるイチマルイチデザイン株式会社の新たな拠点となるグラフィックとしての在り方について着目しました。
従来の空間は内装ができると什器がおかれ、最後にグラフィックが補足的に取り付けられています。 私たちの提案では空間と什器とサインが等価に扱われ共存していく事を考えます。 サインや、そこに置かれる家具やラックによって場所ができるような、そんな世界観をここでは提案します。
通常用いられる格子やフローリング張りやタイル張りのような素材感で表現するのではなく、グリッドによる抽象化させた表現として物の見え方、空間の在り方を変換させたいと考えました。グラフィックとグリッドというアイデアを空間に持ち込むことで空間と什器、什器とサインなどをきっかけに、あらゆる什器配置、アイデアを生み出す場、方眼紙に数式やアイデアを書き留めるように、いろいろな情報をストックしていく場となることを目指しました。

The site is next to the cultural property, Nôgakuden. It’s a modern Japanese entertainment spot where the “Nou” (traditional Japanese theater) and the modern domain (such as cinema, performance concert or comedy) meet. Its particular space is structured by a human scaled grid. Collaborating with the client, Ichimaru Design which is graphic designer’s firm, the idea is to connect local history and the innovative approach of the client by the grid. Normally in the process of the interior design, the graphic elements come at the end. Here we propose a parallel process of the architecture and graphic design. The grid become part of the space and the architecture become the architecture become part of the grid. As abstraction of the flooring of the tiling’s grid texture, it is emerging graphically I nthe space and organizes the furniture like a grid in the sketch book.
