茶屋町のスイッチバーとの連携をはかり、スイッチバーの世界観、舞台感、エンターテイメント性を重視した設計を行いました。
ここでは 視覚的な効果について思考し、スイッチバーという場所をある種「舞台」と捉え、人々がこの場所に居る事が日常でありながらも特別感を感じられるような演出がしたいと思いました。
梅田東通り商店街の一角に位置する計画建物は、古くから商店を支え、規模を拡大させようと増築を重ねた建物でした。取り壊されることなく守られ続けた建物であるがゆえに、店舗としては近年新築されるものよりも天井の低さが際立っており、塗装の後や年月によるダメージにより、とてもきれいな状態ではありませんでした。
そこで、手法としては既存を生かす場所を限定し、既存のマテリアルとそこに挿入するマテリアルの関係性、装飾と空間について、天井の低さを生かしながらも奥行き感や、空間内を探索できるような仕掛けを作る事により、天井の低さを利用した空間の広がりを生み出そうと計画が始まりました。
エントランスフロアでは、プランの中心に場をつくり、壁柱の連続により円形劇場のような空間としました。視覚的な操作を与える事ができ、壁がある事で死角をつくり、壁を抜けるとまた空間が現れる、そのような探索できるような、空間演出としました。
上階へのアプローチでは、 部屋の中心にシンボルとなるボトルシェルフとカウンターとシャンデリアをミックスしたような居場所を計画しました。無数に吊られた電球がミラーの効果によりさらなる奥行き感と賑わいをつくることができました。
求められる厨房や、トイレなのどの機能は、外側に計画する事で「中心」が広がります。そうすることで、まるで外から中心の賑わいを眺めるような関係性が生まれます。そこでは人々があらゆる情報交換を行い、出会いの機会を得るきっかけとなる事を意識しています。
365日イベントを起こすというコンセプトであるスイッチバーの性質が空間と絡み合うようにさらなる活気が増すような場所になっていくと想像しています。

As the extension of the Switch Bar in Chayamachi, the aim is to emphasize its entertainment and theater atmosphere. The visual impact is important as the first bar and the goal is to create unique experience for the visitors. On the Umeda West street, the building was conserved and used as a retail that had many extensions. The quality of the building was not in good condition. The idea in this constrain is to keep the current structure and to mix with few new material that come as ornaments and as spatial organizer. The low ceiling’s height was also one of the char to be kept and turned into a positive element. In the entrance area, the center was made as a gathering space; along the walls we find more private niches and privacy in order to create a central agora and small cells together. The sequence of the small niches animates the bar space. The access to the upper floor with bottle shelves, chandelier and mirrored bulbs creates gorgeous impression. The service zones, like kitchen or toilet, are planned on the edge of the plan in order to maximize the center of the space. Leaving the central point free enforces the communication and meeting occasion and to exchange information. Running non-stop 356 days, the concept of the Switch Bar is growing more and more to animate the Osaka’s nightlife.
